Your Guide to Choosing Kitchen Countertops

If you’re doing a kitchen remodel, which material you want for your countertops is one of the biggest decisions you have to make. It’s a surface you will look at and use on a daily basis, and it takes up a lot of space in your kitchen. At Cabinet Depot, design is our specialty. So we’re here to help you make all the choices that go along with a remodel, including kitchen countertops.

Can’t make up your mind? Let this be your guide to choosing kitchen countertops.

Granite

Granite is the most popular material for kitchen countertops, and it’s easy to see why. It’s durable and looks great in almost every kitchen. As a natural stone, the color options are nearly endless, so it’s easy to find a color option that matches your kitchen design. If sealed properly, granite countertops will hold up to heavy use and last for years. Sealing it properly is important because granite is a porous stone, and it will absorb moisture otherwise.

Marble

If the design goal of your kitchen is elegance, marble is the countertop material for you. This beautiful natural stone is easy to source and adds an element of luxury to any space, including your kitchen. It’s also heat resistant, so it’s a great choice for cooks. It does require a fair amount of maintenance, though, and needs to be resealed at regular intervals, depending on the quality of the stone.

Quartz

An engineered stone, quartz is a long-lasting material that can be manufactured to resemble marble or granite. Its popularity has been on the rise in the last few years because it is non-porous and virtually maintenance-free. Because it is an engineered stone, quartz countertops can be made in colors and patterns that don’t exist or are hard to find in natural stone.

Laminate

Now, when we say laminate, we don’t mean your grandma’s Formica countertops. While not as durable as stone options, laminate makes up for that by being very affordable. It is also much more attractive than the off-white Formica of decades past. If you are remodeling on a budget, laminate kitchen countertops are a good choice. If you’re still not convinced that it will look good in your kitchen, visit our showroom and you can see all the design options.
