White kitchens will never go out of style. Their classic, clean look is timeless, which is ideal for any kitchen design. Kitchens are expensive to build and upgrade, so you don’t want to spend money on design elements that will fall out of fashion in a few years. All-white kitchens can easily look modern, retro, or traditional, depending on how you decide to use the blank canvas of your kitchen.
Here are three ideas to complement an all-white kitchen design.
Pair with Wood
If you want to break up the solid run of white in your kitchen, there is a lot you can do with wood elements. Exposed, unfinished wood adds a rustic touch to the modern look of an all-white kitchen. If you prefer finished wood in your kitchen, you can achieve different effects with different wood tones. Dark wood makes a bold statement, while medium or light wood warms up the look of the kitchen.
Let in the Light
One of the best things about having white in any room is that it makes the room look brighter. And there are many ways to get more light into your kitchen. Big windows and skylights maximize natural light. Under-cabinet lighting, recessed lighting, and statement lighting fixtures bring in light at night or when you can’t get enough natural light. Having multiple lights that you can control separately also allows you to adjust how bright your kitchen is. For example, when you need to cook, you can turn on all the lights so you can see what you’re doing. But then, when you don’t need it to be quite so bright, you can turn some of the lights off.
Accent with Color
Having a white kitchen also makes it very easy to accent with color. Even better, you don’t have to worry about picking complementary colors because white goes with everything. You can select one bright color to make a bold statement, or select two or three muted colors to create a color scheme.
